Research

KOGS conducts and promotes research on sexual and reproductive health and publishes the findings so members, trainees and partners can use evidence in clinical practice and advocacy.

The Society’s official journal, the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Eastern and Central Africa (JOGECA), publishes original, peer-reviewed research and reviews in obstetrics and gynaecology. Its scope includes fetomaternal medicine, family planning and contraception, gynaecological oncology, fertility and endocrinology, adolescent health, health policy and related science.

Research and Development is one of KOGS’s strategic pillars. Evidence generated by members also informs Society projects and advocacy on maternal and reproductive health.

Our Work

How KOGS shares research

JOGECA

JOGECA is the official journal of KOGS. It disseminates current academic and research findings in obstetrics and gynaecology across Eastern and Central Africa.

Research resources

The Society publishes guidance, reports and related materials in its resources library, and members have access to research materials as a membership benefit.

Scientific exchange

The Annual Scientific Congress is a forum for presenting research, debating methods and translating findings into better care for women and newborns.

Evidence for projects and advocacy

KOGS uses research and clinical evidence in its projects and in advocacy for sexual and reproductive health and rights, including work with partners such as FIGO.
